The Word Multiplication Movement is a movement in which people form small groups in the spheres where they belong, such as home, church, and workplace, read through the Bible for 100 days, and after completing the reading, members form new small groups and multiply.
The vision of the Word Multiplication Movement is to rebuild the foundation of the Word in the spheres of the nation, the eight spheres, prepare for reunification through the Word, and prepare Korea to serve the nations. The goal is to raise three million Word multipliers in homes, churches, workplaces, schools, acquaintances, North Korean defectors, and the overseas diaspora, so that the Word flourishes and leads Christian civilization reformation.
The promised Word is Joshua 1:8. Holding to the Word, "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth, but meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; then your way will be prosperous, and then you will have success," we proclaim that now is the time for the Word of God to flourish.
The Word Multiplication Movement is developed through Shema Word School. Students who first complete the school strive to apply the Word of God they have learned to their own lives, and they work so that the Word becomes the foundation of the sphere of society where they belong. Even after completing the school, they continue to engrave the Word on their hearts and gather not only themselves but also people around them to continue Bible reading in small groups.
These small groups are not built around any lectures; their only purpose is to read through the Bible. Using the book Word-Penetrating 100-Day Bible Reading as a tool, they aim to read through the Bible at least three times a year. As each person reads through the Bible, we are confident that the Holy Spirit will open each person's eyes to see, open their ears to hear, and enable their hearts to understand, leading them into truth.
There are many testimonies of the Holy Spirit working as people read through the Bible. Some people lead dozens of small groups. In the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, and across Korea in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Cheongju, Chungju, Gwangju, Daegu, Ulsan, Busan, Jeju, and other regions, more than 1,000 teams and more than 10,000 people are participating in the Word Multiplication Movement in the spheres of home, church, workplace, North Korean settlers, and schools.
The Bible is the Word of God. The Bible gives wisdom leading to salvation, is useful for every area of life, and equips us so that we lack nothing. The Bible equips us for every good work, leads us to know God, and further leads us to make God known.
The Bible affects not only individual lives but also leads us to live influentially in the workplaces where we belong. It also leads communities and nations to be established on a right foundation. In living a life that knows, understands, loves, and obeys the Bible, the Word of God, it is important to hunger for Scripture, be diligent to know and understand Scripture, and come on our knees to seek the help of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible tells us who God is and who I am, and shows my relationship with God. 2 Timothy 3:15-17 says that the Scriptures are able to make us wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, that all Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, and that it thoroughly equips the person of God for every good work.
The Word Multiplication Movement begins by praying to God to bring to mind people who can join. Meet or call the person who comes to mind and invite them, saying, "Let's read through the Bible together." Each person forms a small group of at least three people including themselves and creates a KakaoTalk room. After completing the 100-day reading, the goal is for all team members to continue multiplying.
When a small group for Bible reading is formed, prayer requests are written down and a start report is posted in the whole Word Multiplication Movement room. The daily reading schedule and meditation passage posted in the whole room are forwarded to the small group room, and participants are guided to build the habit of praying before starting the reading. According to the schedule, they read ten chapters of the Bible each day, meditate, and pray.
When reading the Bible, the principle is to read aloud. After Bible reading, meditation, and prayer are complete, participants share a recording file or record the range they read in the small group room. A small group that completes the 100-day reading writes the testimonies of team members in the whole Word Multiplication Movement room as a completion report, takes one day of rest after completion, and immediately begins the second reading.
The Word Multiplication Movement team can read through the Bible for 100 days with family at home and continue into family worship. In churches, it can begin with people who want to read the Bible but have not been able to complete it alone. In workplaces, workplace Christian fellowships and colleagues participate together, and in the spheres of acquaintances and schools, people who want to read the Bible, people with hungry hearts, and friends who want to live by faith and come to know God join together.
